Brabus has worked its magic on the relatively new Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4². Dubbed the Brabus 550 Adventure, the extreme SUV is on display at the on-going Geneva Motor Show, painted a special Light Slate Gray.
The front gets a new bumper guard, underride guard and winch, alongside wire mesh-protected black-tinted xenon headlights and a matte carbon-fibre hood scoop. Brush guards running from the grille guards to the roof rack are joined by an additional LED lighting unit.
At the rear, the two corners of the roof are fitted with power-adjustable LED searchlights, which can be rotated and panned by remote control. The rear bumper features integrated fog and backup lights as well as a central deflector.
The custom-developed, electronically adjustable suspension can be controlled by the driver with the Brabus Touch Control Panel in the cockpit. It uses height-adjustable struts made from high-strength aluminium; the individual setting of the ride height at the front and rear axle allows dialling in the wheel loads precisely. The suspension also offers four different damper settings – ‘Comfort,’ ‘Sport,’ ‘Off-Road’ and ‘Individual’. The Brabus Touch Control Panel also operates the winch and the lighting module on the roof. In addition, it also features a so-called “black-out switch,” which turns off all the vehicle lights a single tap of a finger.
In stock guise, the twin-turbo 4.0L V8 makes 422hp. The Brabus B40-550 PowerXtra upgrade adds two high-performance turbochargers with larger compressor unit, a special core assembly with reinforced axial bearings for higher boost pressure, and matching plug-and-play Brabus PowerXtra auxiliary control unit, which result in a total of 550hp and 800Nm of torque. Brabus claim a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds, with top speed limited electronically to 210km/h to protect the off-road tyres.
The Brabus stainless sport exhaust system comes with remote controlled exhaust flaps that allow drivers to choose between a subtle “Coming Home” mode and a decidedly powerful engine sound in the corresponding “Sport” position at the touch of a button in the cockpit.
The Brabus 550 Adventure 4×4² on display at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show was fitted with exclusive BRABUS fine leather interior with individual power rear seats. The soft and breathable Mastik leather was precisely colour-coordinated with the outer skin of the off-roader. The black perforated leather on the centre sections of the seats and the inner sections of the door panels is finished with the same masterful artistry as the light slate grey leather surfaces quilted with pinpoint accuracy on the seat bolsters. For contrast, red piping was incorporated in various places. Aluminium components such as Brabus pedals and door-lock pins add markedly sporty highlights.
